celery experiment

For my experiment  I put celery in a cup of water  with food coloring in it! I had four celeries and every two hours I would take one out. I was testing to see how long it took for the water to rise up to the celery. I kept each celery the same as much as possible. Each cup had the same amount of drops of food coloring and the same amount of water. Each celery was cut to the same length and had leaves on top. The only variable in the experiment was the length of time that they soaked. My question: how long will the liquid travel every two hours?

The first celery that I took out after two hours, the liquid only
 went up to one centimeter.

The second celery that I took out after four hours, the liquid went up to four centimeters.

The third celery that I took out after six hours went up to six centimeters.
The fourth celery that I took out after eight hours went up nine centimeters.

My conclusion: The liquid travels up the celery stalk on average one inch every hour.
